Re: people

I have been Spoonplugging for 3.5 yrs now I'm 70 yrs young I can not wait till tomorrow learning something new about a lake or the fish is just extremely exciting. And personally I think it is the learning and having it confirmed with a catch is the most satisfying for me. Today for example today as...

Yup thats the stuff!

Re: Leader recommendation for walleye and pike

Most of the SP brain trust is down south fishing at the annual outing, however I'l take a stab at it. I too found the toothy variety a tough situation. Though i do not have a walleyes i do have Pike and Musky's. 50lb mono has been very effective, though it does nick on contact and abuse from weeds. S...

Re: The Man

Invited a friend to fish my lake and enjoy the day. He is out there with his son and grand daughter. I caught my bass spot locked and am in the house watching them troll. Got a 4-3 1/2-3 and one just short of 3 from one spot. Lasted about 15 minutes and it was over. Same as yesterday only fish not ...

Re: Keeping records

Brett Thanks again for asking the question that started this thread. JB and Steve thanks for your thoughts. Real pearls of insights Last year my 1st full season I spent an inordinate amount of time learning how to troll. and I did make some good catches. This year I'm going to spend much more time c...

Re: Keeping records

John, As you look back on the data from the year I’m sure it reminds you what tools it took to make the catch on certain days. Can you comment briefly on a couple tools that have possibly found the way to the deck of your boat the last year or two that weren’t there before? Are their tools that we ...

get the smaller okumas and you should be good.
Have 30's and 20 Okuma's Really think they are good value. On 20' size okuma I use 10lb braid run the 3 smaller SP's 5,4 250 very good setup for me when running across shallow weed beds.

Re: Trolling Reel

Hoosierfan, Yes, the Okumas will fit Bucks Rods. I use a couple different models. the Smaller Magda for when I use NOBO or Braid. The Convector for my Wire line. I have worn out the Magda 20 on a couple models, so switched to the Magda 30. Larger handle and they seem to hold up well. FWIW, i am har...

Re: Fisher lake, Three Rivers, Mi

Johm, Thanks for the insights. During the week Fisher fairly quiet, not many boats a few on the lake putting about in their pontoons I think a couple a jet ski's and one water skier. Heck I probable maid more wakes turning around on trolling passes. Sorry to hear that the SP party numbers are dwindl...
