Re: Some more mapping questions

Hey Denny, I find the Yak thing pretty intriguing. Have considered purchasing one for use on small lakes that are inaccessible with my boat. Have also been watching Yak guys in the Milwaukee Harbor catching some big King Salmon. What a blast. Those pigs drag their Yak around. Too fun. Anyway, I'm su...

Re: Some more mapping questions

DRH, Don Dickson, one of Buck's top students, put out a few great videos some years ago. They are still available in VHS on ebay from time to time. The one that outlines the mapping and interpreting process similar to what Steve noted is really helpful. The tape is on water mapping of structure ( I ...

Re: Hello From Africa!

Happy to hear you were not a Croc meal. Looking forward to your pics and stories.

Also hoping you still want to do the Milwaukee harbor for Kings. Mid September is when I plan to start hitting it.

Good luck and stay safe my friend.

Re: Eating Freshwater Drum

I have read on Lake-Link, and then researched a bit on the internet, about eating freshwater drum. Many say that it is very good. One guy on lake link says that his wife hates eating fish, but loves drum. Apparently he only uses the meat off of the back, leaving any meat below the lateral line / rib...

Re: using google earth

To further this topic on historical lake information, I thought I would offer this. Last year I was searching for information on Lake Wisconsin, an impoundment of the Wisconsin River. I found some awesome information on the US Geological website. The website offers some really nice historical maps. ...

Re: Iowa Yak Angler

Welcome Denny, I have to tell ya, I saw a group of Yakers (if that's a word) out in the Milwaukee Harbor last fall hooking up on some nice King Salmon. Looked like a blast. Has me thinking I might buy me one of those things someday. I know you will find Buck's stuff of great value. Follow the guidel...

Re: In need of a boat

Thanks James, always helps to hear you made a good choice based on someone else's experience. I've also heard nothing but good about the Yamaha motors. Think the boat is scheduled to be built mid May. Hopefully have it for Zaborny's outing.

Re: In need of a boat

Decided to go a different direction on the boat. I just ordered a Crestliner boat. New in their line up this year. This is a boat I thought would have been great for years, but no one built it. It is based on the stick steer crappie boats that have been out for decades, but is now offered in a tille...

Thanks John and Bink. Right now planning on looking at it next week. Have one other idea in mind. I'll see how it pans out.

Re: In need of a boat

Thanks Bink, I talked to the guy that has the one listed with a 60hp Yamaha. He is in Hayward, WI area. I think I'm going up to take a look next week. As an experienced owner of 680T's, is there anything I should be looking out for, i.e. cracking in transom, hull, bow...? I have zero knowledge on th...

Bink,

What was the deal with that last one you purchased? Looked okay.

I sent the guy from that link an email. I will keep you posted.

Re: In need of a boat

Bink, Did you purchase that one you posted the link to, cause it has been pulled from the listing? I looked online and there might be another available. The phone area code was 715, so likely northern WI. Looked pretty nice. Garage stored 88' Ranger with 02' 60 Yamaha. Here is the link: http://walle...

Re: Greetings

Jason and Gerald, Welcome to you both. Glad to see you found the source; Buck. I just joined the forum this year, but I had done a bit of Spoonplugging in the past. I purchased the Green Book, the Home Study Course, and some videos from Buck and Don Dickson back in the late 80's. I have read and stu...
